A public consultation is launched to create a framework for defining ecodesign requirements for energy-related products. This became clear from the Draft Decree of the Council of Ministers of Bulgaria, published in The portal for public discussion. The project is related to the amendment and supplement of the Ordinance on additional measures related to the implementation of regulations adopted pursuant to Art. 15 of Directive 2009/125/EC.
The relevant regulation of the European Parliament and the Council of October 21, 2009 defines the procedures for assessing the conformity of specific product groups from the scope of those already adopted. By 2023, 34 regulations have been adopted, which is reflected in the regulation.
Compliance with new EU regulations
In 2023 and 2024, 3 new Commission regulations were published in the "Official Journal" of the EU, updating the ecodesign requirements for electrical and electronic equipment with regard to the consumption of electricity in "off" mode, "on" mode standby' and also mains standby modes, to local heating heat sources and to fans driven by electric motors with an input power between 125 W and 500 kW.
This requires the regulation to be amended and supplemented in order to ensure the application of the conformity assessment procedures for the products covered by the new regulations, the importers state.
Thus, with the adoption of the changes in the regulation, the implementation of the three new regulations will be ensured and full compliance of the Bulgarian legislation with the requirements of the already adopted new regulations will be achieved regarding the assessment of their compliance with the requirements for eco-design.
