The Chief Prosecutor of the Republic of Bulgaria Ivan Geshev and the Executive Director and member of the Management Board of the Confederation of Employers and Industrialists in Bulgaria (KRIB) Evgeniy Ivanov signed a Memorandum of Cooperation today, December 9, 2020, at the Courthouse in Sofia. In 2020, PRB concluded two other Memorandums of Cooperation – with KNSB and with KT "Support".
The document envisages that the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Bulgaria (PRB) and KRIB will cooperate in the development and implementation of complex measures for the prevention, timely detection and sanctioning of violations of normative rules in all areas of the economy.
Special attention is paid to the problems of environmental protection, especially issues related to "the management of waste of an unspecified type and origin, which creates a danger to the life and health of people, not according to the established order".
The employer organization will provide assistance to the prosecutor's office with an objective and competent analysis of activities in various sectors of economic life in the country and will promptly report all detected irregularities, giving rise to suspicion of illegal activity by legal entities and individuals.
If necessary, KRIB will expertly support the development of methodological and organizational measures for the detection and investigation of crimes in areas requiring specific knowledge (including cybercrimes, money laundering, tax and property fraud, illegal waste management, etc.).
By signing the document, PRB and KRIB express confidence that their joint efforts can help strengthen the legal order and create a more favorable economic environment in the country in the interest of society.
