The Confederation of Employers and Industrialists in Bulgaria (KRIB) is disturbed by the drafted Law on confiscation in favor of the state of illegally acquired property.
Initial analyzes of the draft law convincingly indicate that basic rights of citizens and businesses will be violated and that the proposed changes may lead to serious deviations from the good environment for business in Bulgaria.
At a time when the country needs a large volume of foreign and domestic investment, if the draft law is passed in the form in which it is being discussed in the public space, there may not only be obstacles to the potential investments that would come in, but also an outflow process of already existing projects.
KRIB is convinced that within the framework of an in-depth dialogue with the government, an initiative that is otherwise justified and expected by society, can be developed in the right direction, and not in the currently wrong direction. Therefore, KRIB will request meetings with the leadership of the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, with which to start a dialogue and seek the most correct solution for both the state, its citizens and Bulgarian business.
The opinion of KRIB was adopted at a meeting of the Management Board of the confederation held on December 10, 2009.
